Anti-theist stamp by terra-wah Anti-theist stamp by terra-wah
From wikipedia:
"Antitheism (sometimes anti-theism) is active opposition to theism. The etymological roots of the word are the Greek 'anti-' and 'theismos'. The term has had a range of applications; in secular contexts, it typically refers to direct opposition to organized religion or to the belief in any deity, while in a theistic context, it sometimes refers to opposition to a specific god or gods."

Couldn't find one so I thought I'd make one.

No - just means I'm not an asshole.
I don't agree with religion.
I think it is pointless, cowardly and just an excuse to hate.
However, I'm not going to beat down someone for their beliefs, unless they beat me down for mine.

Excuse to hate?....You do realise not every religion hates, right?

For example, I'm Pagan (thank you ever so much for calling me a coward,) and I just do my own thing. We don't have "sins," and most believe everyone just goes their own way. It's not pointless because it makes me, and a lot of others happy.

Most acts of violence towards other people and animals are done in the name of a 'god'.
Thus showing that most people just use their religion as an excuse to hate.
Infact, I read, not so long ago, about a man whom stated, publicly, that he'd rape and kill his own children if 'God asked him to'.
But paganism is 1 in roughly 5000 different religions.
Please don't talk as if I'm directly referring to you and your religion.
However, whether pagans are hateful or not, in my opinion, religion is still pointless.
Personally I just don't see the need for religion and I imagine the world would be a much better place without it.
Religion fights religion. And the point is?
Absolutely nothing.

No, I act as though you compare every religion that decent people only hold simply because their religion inspires them to do good things for others, or it just simply makes them happy none the less, to the mainstream religions that hate can and DOES stem from. I agree, if the mainstream of religions such as Christianity  did not exist, human kind in general would be more technologically advanced, and possibly better as a species. I can't argue with that, as there is solid evidence supporting that.

I can argue that religion does have it's purposes.

-A lot of religious practices bring people together (such as Mardi Gras, today, where people get together and indulge).

For example, Pagan Pryde events bring like minded people together to celebrate, just for the sake of celebration! Maybe, just maybe, people enjoy spending time with friends and family, perhaps new people as well, who share the same beliefs. In this case, no one really shares the exact same beliefs, but none the less hiring a Celtic band to play as local entrepreneurs sell their spiritual goods sounds like a fun time to me. I get to be social, others make some money.

AND NO ONE GETS HURT.

-A lot of religious practices benefit the environment/society.

Yes, believe it or not there are churches out there who actually do volunteer work, plant trees, and donate money to charitable causes. Who cares if it's in the name of their God? If you're life was saved because someone donated the kidney you needed to live in the name of their God, would you care, or be thankful someone actually took the time to think about you?

You're basing your point that religion is useless based on the exposed, radical extremist that take their beliefs way to far, and the stereotype that if one person from a religion is like that, then so is everyone.

Religion vs religion wars = Extremism nonsense

The man who said he would "rape and kill his own children if god asked him to" = delusional bullshit.

Fuck, if I wasn't happy with my beliefs, and if my beliefs didn't make me happy,
and inspire me to be a better person, I wouldn't be practicing them. Do you need a religion to be inspired to be a good person? Not at all in any way, shape, or form. ARE people inspired to be better people, and benefit society through their beliefs? Absolutely.

Are there nonsensical, delusional, fuckers out there who use their beliefs to do equally nonsensical, delusional acts? OOOHHH you betcha. How could you not know, when the only things the media posts about anything spiritual are Christian/Muslim extremist burning a fucking building, killing someone, or protesting god knows what because they don't share the same beliefs? You rarely see "Local Church helps replant a forest." Why? Because it's boring.

I apologize for the Great Wall of china recreated into digital text up there, but c'mon.

I don't like religions because they tend to oppress some of people's life aspects, wether it is about what you can eat, how you can/can't do about sex, people's sexuality, people not beign your same religion... or even about what music you hear (if you can hear music of course). I don't mind about people having the idea of a god but people that follows a religion that forbids such stupid things and gets into other people lifes... well fuck it
